⭐️ Hey cosmonauts ⭐️
Well, here we are in August, a colourful month ahead as we move further into retrograde season … Leo will be under the spotlight (if they aren’t enough already🤪) and things heat up even more, as the Sun will move into its own sign on the 17th. Mars is already transiting here, plus a retrograde Venus, which you can read about in my previous article here, and Mercury is entering its “retroshade” period leading up to its 3 week retrograde on the 24th.
There are two full (super) moons this month, making August a ‘Blue Moon’ month. The first we have just had on the 2nd, in Capricorn, and the other on the 31st in Aquarius. There will be an emotionally charged New moon in Cancer on the 16th.
A supermoon is where the moon is closer to the earth. It impact is stronger.
Both full moon’s fall in Saturn’s signs, highlighting the need to face reality & for responsible, focussed and disciplined action to achieve success, harmony and prosperity in one’s affairs
The Dance Between Leo & Aquarius

The Aquarius – Leo polarity is one of power, democracy and all the politics in between.
Any planet which transits Leo at the moment will come under the disciplinarian gaze of Saturn, lord of time and karma, as he is sitting comfortably at home in Aquarius. This transit is bringing much more movement and space within rigidities held in societies, in families and within ourselves, such as we are seeing in Iran with the ongoing protests toward the islamic regime – something not seen since the 1979 revolution. (This is a slow burn transit but much is still to change as Saturn will be in Aquarius until March 2025)
Aquarius bends, questions and rebels against rules and structures, changing established norms & the status quo in society. This involves rebellion, out of the box thinking & innovation, particularly in areas such as health and tech and other key societal structures. Saturn is essentially about service aimed at the greater good.
Leo/Sun is about creative self expression, individualism, power and leadership. It can be warm- hearted, egoistic, creative and magnanimous
The inherent tension between these signs lies in the antagonism between their rulers – Saturn and the Sun, as Saturn – Shani was the rejected son of the Sun- Surya, reflecting these themes in any relationship when power is inherently imbalanced.
The key is to understand that those who rule are in the highest form of service, and only those who know how to surrender their ego, are capable of true leadership.
The Retrogrades of Venus & Saturn
Saturn – 18 June – Nov 4th – Aquarius
Venus 23 July – 4 Sept – Leo/Cancer
Retrograde (Rx) energies twist the planets’ natural functioning, and in particular with Saturn, delay and frustrate our energies, plans and projects – so be patient, and be aware of the greater transits playing out – things are slower than usual to come to fruition, so it is best to avoid making major life changes right now.
Now is a great time for getting one’s life affairs in order, finishing loose ends, tidying, cleaning, completing projects, clear clutter, throw things away or donate to charity and reflecting on our commitments, duties and responsibilities. If we have been avoiding reality, it may come to live with us in this time and be harder to ignore!!

Venus Retrograde is transforming our value systems, relationships & finances. It can be most stressful when Venus goes through the karmic gandanta knot between cancer and Leo:
5 – 9 August & 30th Sept – 3rd Oct.
This can trigger difficult emotions, or a general sense of low energy/vitality/health/insecurity, especially if you are Taurus or Libra moon/rising or running a Venus dasha, as well catalysing strong watery weather patterns such as floods/storms.
New Moon – 16 Aug @ 7:38pm – Cancer/ Ashlesha Nakshatra

The moon enters its ‘balsamic’ / waning phase between the 12th – 16th of August. This is not the time for materialistic manifestations or to begin anything new, but rather to release the past, withdraw your energy in preparation for a new lunar cycle.
This new moon is stressed. It falls in the last degrees of Cancer with the Sun – this area of the zodiac is notoriously challenging and difficult, stirring up latent psychological poisons and inner toxins.
With the right attitude, this can be a good time for inner purification, but on a mundane level these transits can trigger seismic activity or extreme water events such as floods, storms and rains – so we need to take care. This is especially true when Venus transits the gandanta zone, as mentioned earlier.
The end of water signs contain collected karmic ‘poisons’ which churn in the human psyche. It is a time for purging and letting go.
This new moon is very powerful for any kind of ancestor worship, such as Tarpanam. Watch the simple process here:
How to Perform Tarpanam – Ancestor Worship
The Sun moves to Leo between the 16-18th, this is and it is never a high energy time, so do avoid any important plans/starting new projects over this week. Mars moves to Virgo on the 18th (not his best place) so we have to be very careful on these days as so many planets are unstable and in flux. There is danger of miscommunication and assumptions which can create all manner of problems/emotional volatility.
With a weak sun and moon (soul & mind), retrograde venus(desire/love/emotion) & saturn(responsibilities/karma) and mars(energy, drive) about to change signs, multiple planets are unsupported and in flux, so we will be seeing this in our psyche & lives – Keep things very simple over these this week.
It might seem like bad news, but in truth it’s more about dealing with reality, and being in harmony with the various events in our lives. We can control how we respond to situations and know that difficulties make us stronger, when we learn to transform our responses. Our power is within.
Mercury Retrograde in Leo – 24/8 -16/9

Mercury has a long stay in Leo this year: (25 July – 2 Oct).
Fire Signs energise the intellect, firing up inspiration and creativity. Mercury governs the earth element, connecting us to our friends, to businesses, travel, logistics and communication. Expect changes, delays, reversals and fresh insights in these areas. Relationships may be renewed, people from the past return, secrets unveiled, confused thinking, burnout, travel delays etc.
Mercury Retrograde coincides with Venus & Saturn Retrograde, as well as Venus going direct the same day that Jupiter turns retrograde (Sept 4th), so we need to be extra mindful that week as multiple energies are not supportive for us and can disrupt many situations especially if we try to overcomplicate and do too much.
This is especially true for our close relationships- communication and compassion is key right now. Leo is the Heart, stay connected to your heart and you will never be led astray.
Avoid planning travel between 24th August and the 16th of September. But if you have to, take extra care on Wednesdays and always plan ahead, give yourself more time than usual. Virgo and Gemini can get burned out as their nerves are more fragile and stress more easily – make sure you are counterbalancing and taking care of yourself.
Mercury in Leo is playful, fun, creative but Saturn’s 7th aspect can dampen the enthusiasm, however a little reality check now and again is important to keep things Real and grounded.
Mercury and Saturn are good friends, so it’s a great time to attend to your responsibilities and use the back spin to think creatively about the situation. It is a time to review our thinking process – remember, the world is what you think it is, so use your mind to create what you want.
