Full Moon Mula: Chaos Magic and Change

This post aims to distill some information and insights about this profound full moon & solstice energy.

Full Moon in Mula star is about cutting something off at the root, there can be a great churning of our subconscious during this time – Solstice represents a still point in cosmic time, a turning point. There is a change of seasons – externally and internally. We also have Saturn slowing down to move retrograde at the end of the month.

We will experience the shortest day of the year, and the longest night. There will be a gradual return of light as we move out of the darkness of winter. The northern hemisphere will experience their longest day, representing a gradual movement inwards. Overall, solstice represents the unending cycles of growth and decay – birth and death, renewal & regeneration.

22 June: This is a profound Sagittarius Full Moon, activating the Mula and Ardra axis.

Mula & Ardra fall in Sagittarius & Gemini, respectively – ruled by Jupiter & Mercury.
Mula & Ardra are ruled by the lunar nodes; Rahu & Ketu who are currently in Pisces and Virgo, also ruled by Jupiter and Mercury.

This is a dichotomy between the higher and lower aspects of the mind. Faith vs. Fear. Trust vs. Control. Compassion vs. Critisism.

Mula : 0° – 13°20 Sagittarius
Mula’s presiding deity is Nirriti, a more destructive and volatile form of MahaKali – who is, a primal, raw and wild form of Shakti; Nature herself – Her function is to break things apart
Ketu, the separative south lunar node, rules this star
Its animal is a male dog
Its nature is Rakshasha (demonic) – meaning it has no trouble to deal with difficulties of life, and it is Sattvic – meaning its highest motivation is purity
Its symbol is a bunch of roots tied together – This links us to Muladhara chakra – root of a thing, person or situation

(Jyotish helps us to look beyond a binary, black or white perspective and embrace the multi dimensional aspects of reality)

This full moon occurs in the center of the galaxy – the most profound junction which can take a person to great spiritual heights, but often through the path of turbulence, tears and transformation. There is nothing light about Mula.

Ketu is intense, mystical, separative, spiritual and fiery.  His purpose is to essentially spiritualise one on their path through separation, loss, detachment and apathy. Clinging will not work here. Mula’s symbol is a bunch of roots tied together.

There is an invitation to cut something off at the root
To understand the core of a situation
To make a 180 degree shift in perspective
To connect to your deepest roots – what truly sustains you?
To free yourself from baggage that is weighing you down
To let go … or continue to be dragged

This full moon is sitting 180 degrees to the Sun in Ardra – another intense star. Currently Mercury and Venus are traversing this section of Gemini – 6°40- 20°

The Mula- Ardra pair represent a karmic tug of war. Ruled by Rahu and Ketu – Ardra pulls us into the drama of life, materialism, logic and intellect – there is a churning on the soul level – Mula wants to cut off, detach and move beyond petty details. They are attracted to, yet repelled by each other. Their animals are the male and female dog – dogs repesent the uncontrolled ego always running after sensations, so there is a need here to truly master the mind and its wayward senses.

Connected to Rudra, the storm god, Sun in Ardra brings to light our conflicts with authority, our discomfort with our own authority  and the need to consciously understand the nature of the storms in our lives – most of which are caused by our own inner restlessness and perpetual boredom.

As Ardra is connected to Rain, Thunder and Storms; chaos catalyses change, sorrow and tears – which eventually lead to wisdom.

People born between June 23 and July 6 often reflect the most tumultuous part of Gemini, one one hand they can be light and carefree, then switch up with intensity and inner turmoil, driven by a deep inner restlessness, as the soul is often deeply confused about what it wants.

What’s in your Mind/Moon/Inner consciousness? Your beliefs probably need further investigation. Review the situation. Full Moon: Light up, Illuminate the dark side of the moon/mind What is hidden? What are your blind spots? Self reflection, radical honesty, constructive criticism. When you know all your shadows, befriend your demons – when you have no inner ‘enemies’ – then there are no enemies ‘out there’.

Remember the Mirror Conspiracy – everyone and everything is nothing but a reflection of your mind -mirror.

Sever, burn, purify, do what you need to keep on, keeping on. It’s a powerful moon, as we have crossed the gandanta (drowning, knotted) threshold of Scorpio; the insect dives into the hole, the phoenix has burned and rises,  the centaur is ready to launch.

There is no coming to consciousness without pain. The proportion to which one can grow in in direct proportion to the amount of truth one can handle about oneself without running away.

Leave the past behind you and step forward with confidence.
Magic Awaits.
