The Starry Times: Full Moon Leo

This full moon illuminates in the nakshatra of Magha (0-13’20 mins Leo). It carries the energy of Sun/Ketu. Sun rules Leo, Ketu rules Magha.

Known to contain the bright star Regulus, the energy of this nakshatra carries royal and regal energies.

People with their natal moon or other key planets located in this star are proud, loyal, creative, selfish, powerful (or desire to be) and can sometimes display inner discontent due to the separative influence of the ruling planet Ketu.

Magha is associated with our ancestors. Ketu connects us to our past lives. Honouring our ancestors (we inherit our dna and genetics from them) – is an important yet forgotten part of our lives. All indigenous communities have an intrinsic understanding of the importance of honouring those who have walked before us.

Right now in the celestial spheres, the Sun is moving through Aquarius and Ketu is about to leave Capricorn crossing the energetic border, shifting to Sagittarius. (The lunar nodes always move backward). These two planets, express and channel the energy of Magha, at the moment. (The planets are always shifting, so the expressions and experiences of the planets are stars are always different, just as there are no two humans are the same.)

This Full moon can promote a sense of accomplishment or a desire to take one’s power to create a change in life. Deeper fulfilment and satisfaction comes in using one’s power and energy to help/assist/work for others. The Sun in Aquarius stimulates these desires and impulses this month, situations can come as a reminder that depressions and negative feelings have a direct parallel to the amount of energy we direct only on ‘myself’ ‘my problems’ ‘my life’. Aquarius is a humanitarian sign ruled by the dutiful and servile planet Saturn. Doing things without attachment to outcome is a wonderful way to practice Karma Yoga and experience the higher vibrations of Aquarius.

Ketu is on a threshold. Having spent the last year and a half in Capricorn, it will shift into Sagittarius on the 9th of March. Always some unusual event occurs when the nodes are affected by transits, movements and changes. Many psychics that channel are actually tuning into specific planetary and stellar rays.

Ketu is reminding us of detachment in our lives. The more we seek pleasure, the more pain we ultimately feel, whatever we avoid, eventually finds its way back to us. There is a toaist proverb : “Do without doing and everything gets done” – detachment is the key to living simply and generating contentment and happiness in our lives. When our desires for power, prestige, wealth, pleasure and comfort dominate our choices, we can expect “bad luck” – not because we are inherently unlucky, but because the nature of life is not just about fulfilling our needs. Ketu in the last part of Capricorn is reminding us of our power of detachment, service and spiritual duty in our lives, for our ancestors, ourselves, and the future generations.

Happy Full Moon everyone – Think big, honour your ancestors and make an offering. Their spirits come as ants, birds, wind, rain, insects, animals, and will take your offering, especially when it is sincere and from your heart.

I have studied Jyotish for a number of years and have gained so much from applying the insights and knowledge to my life. To me, life is an adventure, an exploration of the universe, self and others. If you like what you read and would like to know more about your own chart and how the planetary energies are affecting you personally, I offer consultations in person or over skype.

Have a great week X
