March is a month where we are going to start to feel shifts of energies that herald the upcoming changes this year. How you personally experience these changes will depend on where you are at in your life; how well you relate to the cyclical ups and downs of life.
March 6 – 29th – Mercury retrograde
March 7 – New moon
March 9 – Rahu and Ketu shift into Gemini/Sagittarius. 1 ½ year transit
March 21 – Solstice Full moon Virgo
I have decided to create a separate blog for some of these events to avoid overwhelm and too much information.
On the 6th of March, mercury will begin it’s first three week retrograde. (There will two more later in the year). While mercury has just entered pisces, most of the retrograde transit will happen in aquarius.
Its a time to triple check your travel plans, agreements and communications. Back things up and watch for vague and unclear boundaries. There is a saying that says the greatest distance between two people is mis understanding. Conflict, as a natural part of life, has a marvellous function of leveraging us from our own rigidities, by inviting us to see things from a different point of view. The degree of mental flexibility you have will reflect in your ability to adapt to the hiccups that occur during the retrograde period.
Mercury is debilitated in pisces and while it can be a great placement for creatives, as mental fluidity and divine inspiration is needed to move and flow with ideas, it will also promote some mishaps and misadventures in mercury related fields such as communications, organising, scheduling, delays in transportations, autocorrect disasters and emails that mysteriously disappear into cyberspace. Back up your devices, double check contracts before signing.
Use this time constructively to make sure you have all the facts before moving forward.
Typically Mercury retrogrades are times to not push any agenda too fast. Take care and consider all your options before taking action. A lack of thoroughness and attention to detail could show at this time. Remember, rejection is a redirection. Being too attached to outcomes often lead to disappointments… Re-assess, re-focus, re-consider; themes that come more into play in retrograde times.
March 7: New moon Aquarius, Purvabhadrapada nakshatra
New moons can feel like incubation, where dormancy is about to break into a fresh cycle. The new moon in this star sets a kind of stage for some of deeper themes mercury retrograde may trigger – facing the darker aspects of our human nature – Purvabhadrapada is sometimes depicted as a two faced man – It is ruled by Jupiter, while aquarius is ruled by saturn. Saturn points to where we need to be accountable and where our duties lie, jupiter gives us wisdom to overcome our challenges.
Purvabhadrapada star expresses humanitarian and worldly issues. If you are feeling depressed or sad, you could wonder if your energies and efforts are mostly motivated to look after only yourself? Time and time again, it has been shown that those who are motivated by the welfare of others have peace and happiness in their hearts, even if they don’t have a lot of wealth.
If you are re-assessing your direction in life, perhaps you could think about what community means to you and how what you do can contribute and benefit everyone, not just yourself. The themes of this star will be highlighted as mercury retrogrades into this star, stimulating a desire for change and transformation in some area of life.
In my next blog, I will cover the coming shift of rahu/ketu into gemini/sagittarius. Thank you for reading and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
I have studied Jyotish for a number of years and have gained so much from applying the insights and knowledge to my life. To me, life is an adventure, an exploration of the universe, self and others. If you like what you read and would like to know more about your own chart and how the planetary energies are affecting you personally, I offer consultations in person or over skype.
